Splenda Harmful Effects Controversy
There are concerns about the safety of Sucralose, an artificial sweetener commonly known as Splenda, and now also supplied as SucraPlus. Some say the product may contribute to health problems such as obesity and impair absorption of prescription drugs.
- Splenda comes in many forms, such as granules, individual packets, a brown sugar blend and minis. It is also found in many prepared foods and beverages.
- Splenda's manufacturer, McNeil Nutritionals, says the safety of sucralose is well documented in more than 100 scientific studies, and that it has been found to be safe in children, diabetics and pregnant women.
