Pilocarpine has been used in the treatment of chronic open-angle and acute angle closure glaucoma for over 100 years. It is also used to reduce dry mouth that occurs as a result of radiation therapy for head and neck cancers, and to diagnose cystic fibrosis. Side effects vary depending on the type of pilocarpine given, but usually include blurred or dimmed vision and headache.
