Partial Colon Removal

A colectomy, which is the removal of all or part of the colon, is often needed to treat colon cancer and other disorders. The most common procedure is a laparoscopic bowel resection which involves removing the damaged part of the colon and attaching the remaining two parts together. Other reasons for performing a partial colon removal include bowel obstruction, bowel perforation, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis.
