Neurofibromatosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

The link between neurofibromatosis (NF) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is yet to be established and further research is needed to determine the possible relationship of the two diseases. In Great Britain, the British Journal of Rheumatology reported a case of a 3-year-old boy with NF masquerading as a monoarticular juvenile arthritis in 1996. In India, there were two documented cases of RA presenting with neurofibromas according to a report in 1997.
